When you adopt from us, you are giving a homeless animal a second chance at love. We value the health and well being of all pets we encounter. With access to affordable veterinarian care, we can get sick dogs and cats on the road to recovery in short order. As a growing rescue group, we are in constant need of volunteers who can assist us in saving dogs.
Home At Last reserves the right to reject any application and reserves the sole right in determining the best placement for our dogs. The application is not a guarantee of any dog’s placement. You can complete our online adoption application with the name of the dog you are applying for. The adoption fee for puppies between 8 weeks to 6 months is $450 and for any dog more than 6 months old is $400. These dogs have a higher adoption fee of $650 and the additional fee collected helps fund expensive surgeries for medical dogs that we have. We only adopt out dogs that have been spayed or neutered to ensure that no dog adopted from Home At Last will be used for breeding.

Please note that not all of our dogs attend each Meet & Greet. If you are planning on coming out to see a particular dog, it is best to check our Facebook page the morning of the event to view the list of dogs scheduled to be attending. Before an adoption can be finalized, we will require you to sign an Adoption Contract. After that process, if there appears to be a suitable match we will contact you and proceed with the adoption. Make sure you have paid all deposits and fees before you adopt. The entire family should meet the animal before adoption, try to bring all family members. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.
All available vet records and the dog’s history will be provided to you upon adoption. The next step is to set up a meet and greet with the dog! Find a dog that is compatible with you, your home and your lifestyle – now and in the future. You may not find the perfect pet for you on your first visit. Don’t get discouraged…it may take some time, but that new pet who is just right for you is out there, and hoping that you don’t give up. Time
For a fee of $25.00, potential adopters can place a 24-hour hold on an animal they wish to adopt. The hold fee is not refundable, but will be applied to the adoption fee of the animal you placed the hold on. Holds are only placed on animals if you have an application on file. We strive to match each dog with the right family after the dog has been observed in a foster home. An adoption fee is necessary to cover the cost of spaying/neutering, medicating, and caring for dogs that often come from situations of neglect and sickness. We also pay the shelters a fee for every dog we rescue and sometimes have to pay a driver to transport them from shelters to our foster homes in PA and out of harm’s way. Without charging our own fee, we could not afford to do our work. Most PA county shelters get tax-payer funding and large corporate donations to support them so they can afford to let their animals go for a lower fee than we can.

We cannot guarantee when a certain breed will arrive in our care or be available for adoption. To submit a breed specific request, click here for our online request form. Please also be as specific or as general as you like in describing the kind of pet for which you are searching. An adoption fee is required after the adoption is finalized. In most cases, the adoption fee is non-refundable, even if the dog is subsequently returned. However, in some circumstances we may feel it is appropriate to refund the adoption fee.
Through adoption events, online marketing, social media posts and transports to higher demand locations we find wonderful homes for each pet in need. Others were rescued from various circumstances, abandonment being the most common. In order to continue our work, we charge a fee for adopting an animal. We cannot hold dogs for people who have been approved but are not yet ready to accept the dog into their home.

Fostering is such a rewarding experience and is vital to our goal of placing rescued dogs into new permanent homes. Your current dog, we require a dog-to-dog meeting at our facility before finalizing an adoption. Just be sure that you have someone who can wait with your dog as you meet our adoptable pets if it isn’t appropriate weather to leave the dog in your car. We also ask that you fill out an Adoption Application, and a Pet Adoption Agreement to help us ensure that our animals are going to loving, stable homes. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation will not only help us to save more animals, it's also fully tax-deductible.
